So we decided not to fish the tributaries and break out our boat . 14 hook ups and 8 fish to the boat later it turned out to be an excellent idea ; with fish begging to be reunited with family in the cooler : ) Steve , Kevin , James & I had a relaxing day upon the lake . James & I were joined by Todd , Eric , Dan , Ryan , and Nick from Altoona , PA for an afternoon of chasing chrome . We had numerous hook ups and a few nice silver fish brought to hand . A beautiful evening of fishing with new company and an excellent time had by all .
On Sat 10-22-11 I was joined by Josh , Jim , Gene , & Randy from Pittsburgh , PA for an excellent day of catching upon the local Lake Erie tributaries . Numerous fish were brought to hand by the guys . Saturday we started at Walnut Creek in the AM and shifted our focus to Elk Creek in the Afternoon . The fish were hitting fast & furious in the off color Autumn flows. Thanks for an awesome time on the water fellas.
On Sunday 10-23 an old friend joined me for a great morning bite as the water turned from off color to low & clear in the afternoon . Local pics & videos to follow. A thank you to all that has been aboard this season ..... I plan to get her winterized and ready for the 2012 season . I would love to run into late October ; but as of late the lake has been averaging 6 -12 foot waves daily and shows no sign of letting up .
On a positive note many fish are entering the tributaries in the high water that 3+ inches of rain has brought over the past weekend. 10/6/11 Franco's group from Pittsburgh , PA landed 7 chromers and hooked up with 11 while trolling in front of the tributary mouths . Stream fishing for steel head continues to be excellent . 10/7 / - 10/8 Jesse from Beaver County , PA had an excellent day on the tribs landing a bunch of early chrome . 10/9 Steelhead bite slowed for Mike 's group on a lake charter with a 20 inch 5 lb small mouth & one 7 lb steel head brought aboard . The gin clear water and 64 degree lake temperatures made for a tough trolling bite . |
