Joe & his crew from Liberty , PA joined us for some Perch & Walleye action on Monday . With a little luck from the weather god the passing thunderstorm did not affect our travels ; staying just inland from our position . We began Perch fishing in rough 3-5 ft waves with an occasional 6 ftr and having a 1 mile drag before the anchor struck pay dirt by 10 AM we had boxed 180 Perch ( a six person limit ) and were on our way to look for eyes .
Unfortunately the wind had the eye bite shutdown with what looked like a promising first hour of trolling with three eyes in the box between 4 & 7 lbs . The eyes would not co-operate after that so we headed back to dock early for what would be a 3 hour cut & bag operation . The 180 perch yeilded 20lbs of fillets and 60 lbs of waste so I would say we took what we could get and had an excellent day despite the 20-25 knot winds . Thank you fellas for the excellent company and helping "clicker" stay on his feet !
Special thanks to Ryan Miles and the Lawrence County Conservation Club . We gathered Monday June 21st for a demostration for 42 awesome young sportsmen/ladies and explained how our Charter Operation performs it's daily duties . I was flabergasted of how much these kids hunger for knowledge in the outdoors and thier enthusiasm to participate ! I want give my graditude to these conselours whom make this group possible and for giving back the the outdoor community . Thank you for molding our future and giving a strong moral base to these fortunate kids .
On tuesday 38 of the kids took a charter on The Edward John hitting perch with excellent consistency ; while four joined us for a half day of eye action . The Walleye bite was a little slow but we managed 8 fish trolling from 9AM till 2 PM . Despite the bumpy water conditions the crew gave me memories to be etched in my mind for a lifetime . They did an excellent job landing ALL fish hooked and participating in setting lines , baiting hooks , and unhooking fish ! Good job fellas and thank you Jay for your help aboard !
The mates Larry & Moe kept Captain Curly busy at the helm as we began the day bouncing around the boat in 2-4 ft waves . These fellas know how to give me grief on the water. As luck would have it the lake calmed down around 9 AM and the fish started getting active . The dorkfeesh started eating corndogs and 14 Eyes found thier way to the box including Zach's first trophy Walleye at 8lb 1 ounce congratulations bud . Fishing 55-58 FOW off the nut . Another excellent day on the water with a few missed opportunities on fish lost at or around the boat . The numbers keep increasing as the water is warming . Speed is picking up some too ....... Fish will be flying in the boat soon ..... Tight lines to all .....
Special thanks to Tim's group ( Brandi , Mike , and Bill ) Whose patience would prove to be detrimental to Lake Erie's Eye population . The best crew a captain could ask for .... The morning was full of changes due to mother Erie's fury . When we began the lake was glass as soon as line were set the lake went to 2-4 foot waves that shut the eyes off .... Three hours later the fish started to co-operate ! By the end of the day we had 11 eyes in the cooler with 3 throw backs under 15" .... A great time had by all aboard the "Dream Catcher" thanks crew you folks are awesome ! ....
Dan & his father got into our Lake City Walleye like flies on the black plague ! With two full tickets ! This is most likely the final moments we are gonna be on the close to shore action but the results were worth the wait ! Thanks for the awesome time aboard dream catcher ! I'm certain they'll be back to share in the late summer for some brute force eye action for the "big migration". On this outing we pulled in our largest eye of the season ( thus far ) at a hefty 8lb 8 ounces ...... Thanks for the memories .........
